The Doctor. Vinay Nadkarni is Professor and Chair at the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP), Departments of Anesthesiology, Critical Care and Pediatrics, University of Pennsylvania Perelman School of Medicine. The Doctor. Nadkarni is a member of the Executive Committee of the Society for Critical Care Medicine (SCCM) and is president-elect for 2024. He was president of the Citizen CPR Foundation and is the founding director of the CHOP Academy for Resuscitation of Children, the Center for Pediatric Resuscitation, and the CHOP Center for Simulation, Advanced Education and Innovation. He was chairman of the American Heart Association's Emergency Cardiovascular Care Committee (2006-2010) and the executive committee of ILCOR, International Liaison Committee on Resuscitation (2007-2021). He is a founding member of the American Heart Association National CPR Registry (Get with the Guidelines-Resuscitation) at over 400 hospitals nationwide, the AHRQ-funded National Emergency Airway Registry for Children (NEAR-4-KIDS) at 50 hospitals in the US, from the International Network for Simulation-Based Pediatric Innovation, Research and Education (INSPIRE) at 106 centers, from the 40-member Pedi-RES-Q learning “co-lab” that is collecting data to inform practice and help creation of “next generation” resuscitation. He is the Principal Investigator of the Laerdal-RQI funded Global Resuscitation Alliance for Resuscitation of children. For the past five years, he has been assisting in the growth and development of PediSTARS (Pediatric Simulation Training and Research Society) across India and the creation of the UPenn IREF funded ABC Active Bleeding Control-Stop the Bleed program in Hyderabad and Bangalore. The Doctor. Nadkarni is the author of more than 650 peer-reviewed manuscripts and 35 book chapters related to the practice of critical care and resuscitation science. He has an H Index of 107, with over 103,105 citations and an i-10 Index of 389. Over his career, he has mentored over 140 postdoctoral fellows and medical scientists, leading to recognition with the following awards : American Academy of Pediatrics Critical Care Lifetime Distinguished Career Award (2014), the International Liaison Committee on Resuscitation (ILCOR) Giant's award (2015), and the American Heart Association Lifetime Achievement Award for Cardiac Arrest and Resuscitation Science (2017) and the Citizen CPR Foundation Hans Dahll Award (2021).
